-= Zuhal =-
The name for our team comes from the Malay word "ZUHAL" which means "Jupiter", the planet. Jupiter is the largest planet in our solar system and it is also known to be a gas giant type of planet. It has a Great Red spot which is a huge hurricane which has an enormous longevity which baffles scientists today. Our team logo is a LEGO model of Jupiter. Why did we choose Jupiter as our team name and logo?
It's attributes of "the largest", "giant", "great" and "longevity" cannot help but remind our team of Neil Armstrong's lasting words, "that's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind." That was said on 20 July 1969, 46 years ago. LEGO bricks are simple and small, yet they create long-lasting creative storms in our minds. Our moon, although it is small, yet by taming the lunar environment to sustain life there represents a huge, long lasting boost to the chances of the future survival of mankind. Hence, our team's mission is to live up to the symbolism of Jupiter's greatness and the Great Red Spot's longevity by achieving high impact goals with long-lasting effects in the 2015 MOONBOTS competition. As the ZUHAL team members reside in the rural countryside in Malaysia's central Main Range of mountains where development is slow, the local communities pay little attention to science and mathematics. It is our team's vision through participating in this year's MOONBOTS competition, we can show the local communities what robotics is all about. In the villages where children still walk around barefooted on bare soil, showing them the capabilities of LEGO Mindstorms is truly a "small step" for LEGO but a "giant leap" for them in terms of scientific knowledge. We want to achieve this during the community outreach segment in Phase Two of the 2015 MOONBOTS competition. It will be one small step for LEGO Mindstorms but a giant leap for Malaysia's children education. We would like to use LEGO Mindstorms EV3 for Phase Two of 2015 MOONBOTS. Terima kasih (Thank you).
