From Orange County, California Team GalacTechs is made up of four future scientists with interests ranging from filmaking, acting, 3D printing, math and robotics . Nadia (11), Rayyan (10), Kamran (10) and Aleena (8) bonded over their love for space and their desire to explore the moon. For their inspirational tale, this fantastic foursome have envisioned a state of the art, 'Lunar Resort' (ie. temperature guided movable space camp) that will change the face of space travel forever. Through their agency, GalacTech Getaways, these young explorer-entrepreneurs will provide safe, cost-effective access to the moon. Watch their video to find out how they will accomplish this feat! If selected to be in Phase 2, the team will put their robotics expertise to good use and utilize the VEX IQ Super Kit to complete the challenge. Rayyan, the "CTO" of the team is a Lead builder and driver of his school's Robotics team and has successfully competed in various robotics tournaments. Nadia, the "COO" is an award winning filmmaker with her latest entry winning the San Luis Obispo Film Festival in the 'Best Elementary School Short Film' category. Kamran, the "CEO" and best salesman GalacTech Getaways has, is only 10 but already a smooth talker and loves experimenting with circuit boards and 3d printing. And last, but not least, the charming "Tour Director", Aleena is a budding actress and most recently starred as one of the orphans in the play 'Annie'. One of her favorite books is ‘The Moon Seems to Change' and she diligently keeps track of when the full moon might appear. This 'Moonificent' group is out to wow you with their ideas on how to conquer space travel and bring the Earth closer to the moon.

Phase One

What inspires our team about the Moon is:
Testimonial from someone who has viewed our tale:

......

Benjamin Dickow, Executive Director for the Columbia Memorial Space Center, says

“It makes me want to go…I’ll sign up with these kids…It’s a great idea! Kids did a great job in presenting their case. Whenever they’re ready to launch their project, we’d be happy to be the base that they’d launch from.”

Jessica Carrillo, Activities Specialist for the Columbia Memorial Space Center, says

"I like that it was informative and easy to follow. It makes me want to visit the moon."

Richardo Padilla, Mechanical Design Engineer for Zodiac Aerospace, Activity Specialist for the Columbia Memorial Space Center, says,

"Team GalacTechs inspirational tale of a future where ordinary people can visit the moon is innovative and visionary. Their presentation did a really good job of mixing the technical side with mainstream information."
