Our group is called MoonExplorers and is composed by Gabriela, Julia, Pedro, Sofia and, our team captain, Carlos. We study at Four C Bilingual Academy. We are 10, 11 and 12 years old. We are engaged kids that researched about the moon and dedicated time to create a tale and make a video. We are a united group, but each of us has different talents.
Sofia is a very dedicated girl that helps everyone; Julia is a very clever person that is very interested in the moon; Gabriela is good at writing stories and managing time and Pedro knows a lot about programming and dealing with robots. Also Sofia and Gabriela participated in an English competition in London, named BEO, British English Olympics; Pedro has experience in robotics competitions and all of us have participated in a rocket building competition. We are very excited to participate in this challenge and, if we move to the second phase, we would like to use the LEGO MINDSTORMS kit.
Congratulations MoonExplorers! Your video just confirmed my faith in education. Thanks for choosing a school scenario to start your story. Education is one of the pillars to scaffold citizenship and innovation. Your video represents it: you presented young students sharing ideas, discussing future issues and thinking about what could exist beyond what we already know. In fact, I believe that important discoveries and amazing answers come through questioning. I was impressed by your research and curiosity about the moon. The video essay shows your curiosity for the unknown, the belief that there are new truths and the necessity to continue challenging and discovering new frontiers. In addition, I would like to say that I learned more about the moon with your video, I did not know that astronauts were there only 6 times and that moon’s temperature varies so much.
My favorite part of the video happens when you were adults, because you realized that some of your wonderings were real and you were one more time together to remember that day on the playground when you were just kids connecting academic facts to the real world. You were brilliant, congratulations!
