To the Moon and Beyond
We are curious explorers that will someday make our way to the moon. We are known as the three Commanders: Hannah, Sana and Olivia. Our current location is Connecticut in the United States. Prior to this exploration, we have taken part in other missions such as FIRST LEGO League and Robocup. Among our group, we have won several regional competitions and a world championship. Combined we have 8 years of experience with STEM.
We are looking forward to expanding our horizons by using VEX IQ Super Kit, instead of using LEGO Mindstorms which we have used in previous competitions. We believe exploring the moon is our first step in finding other inhabitable places in our universe. One day the human race will live throughout the universe and we, the curious explorers, hope to be the ones to lead in these adventures.
My name is Amanda, and I watched Team To the Moon and Beyond’s video essay. This video is about a moon dwelling family, originally from Earth. The little girl, Luna, calls her mother for a bedtime story, and the mother begins giving a description of Earth. I liked the way that the script calls for her to explain Earth’s qualities in almost a whimsical, fairytale like manner. It makes it more believable that the family lives on the moon rather than Earth. I thought this was clever and creative. Then the mother goes on to tell a legend about a rabbit venturing to the moon. When she finishes this story and leaves the room, Luna thinks she sees the rabbit hopping about outside her window. However when she calls her mother over to show her the rabbit, it disappears. The narrator concludes the video essay by saying how from that night on, Luna dreamt of travelling the moon and visiting Earth and Mars with the bunny. I thought that this ending was perfect, because it expands on the theme of space exploration and getting younger generations interested in this topic.
